That epic end to the song Layla was written by a guy named Jim Gordon, who was really a popular session drummer In high demand in the 60s/70s. He later killed his own mother in a psychotic episode, an apparently undiagnosed schizophrenic. Because of recent changes in California law he wasn't allowed to plead insanity, but has so far spent most of his life sentence in a hospital (bit.ly/wikiAtasca). He recalls it like if it was someone else…. (bit.ly/tQ2Nma)
You should also know about Cream ― the first supergroup according to Rolling Stone (Jann Wenner).
"I feel free."
I feel free when I listen to this song.
And that song that sounds like In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (the riff part) is excellent.
Oh and this.
